Closed-cell perlite: A lightweight, high-strength solution for optimizing sound insulation mortar performance

In green building and high-quality floor slab construction, closed-cell perlite (perlite microspheres), with its superior structural characteristics, is gradually replacing traditional coarse aggregates and becoming the core component of high-performance sound insulation mortar.

Its professional advantages in mortar systems are analyzed as follows:

Excellent vibration damping: The "cavity" structure of closed-cell perlite provides the mortar with excellent elastic modulus, effectively absorbing and attenuating solid-borne sound generated by objects impacting the floor slab, significantly improving the impact sound reduction of the floor slab.

Lightweight and anti-settlement: The extremely low bulk density effectively reduces the building's dead load. Due to its high-temperature vitrification surface, its water absorption rate is extremely low, ensuring that the mortar does not separate or segregate during pumping and spreading.

High Compressive Strength: Unlike ordinary expanded perlite, its closed-cell structure provides stronger skeletal support, ensuring the sound insulation leveling layer possesses excellent compressive strength and crack resistance after drying, meeting the load requirements of subsequent tile or flooring installation.

Workability and Environmental Friendliness: It is Class A non-combustible and fireproof, and also has natural thermal insulation properties, aligning with the current trend of integrated acoustic and thermal design in "green buildings" and "ultra-low energy buildings."

Closed-cell perlite, with its dual mechanical and acoustic stability, is providing modern buildings with a quieter and more robust flooring solution.
